I came across this article on CNN. Apparently people hide a box or something with item(s) inside, then post the longitude and latitude online for others to find, then replace the items inside with something else.

That's a really cool idea. You can get GPS units that are pretty damn accurate from the store for a couple hundred bucks, the technology has come quite a ways to allow the average person to use it for something like this.
